Abstract

The pervasive rise in mental health disorders, particularly depression and addiction-related behaviors, necessitates innovative approaches to diagnosis, continuous monitoring, and timely intervention. Traditional clinical paradigms often suffer from spatial and temporal limitations, relying predominantly on retrospective self-reporting and episodic consultations. This paper presents a comprehensive examination of digital health intervention models designed specifically for the continuous identification and management of depression and addiction-related behaviors. By leveraging ubiquitous technologies such as smartphones, wearable sensors, and cloud computing infrastructures, digital health interventions offer an unprecedented capacity to capture real-time behavioral data through a process known as digital phenotyping. This study explores the theoretical underpinnings, methodological architectures, and ethical considerations inherent in the deployment of these digital tools. We analyze the efficacy of passive sensing mechanisms, such as keyboard dynamics and geospatial tracking, alongside active ecological momentary assessments, to build robust predictive models of psychological distress. Furthermore, the paper evaluates the subsequent automated intervention delivery systems that utilize these predictive insights to provide customized, just-in-time adaptive support. Ultimately, we synthesize current empirical findings to discuss the challenges of user engagement, data privacy, and clinical integration, providing a definitive framework for future research in digital therapeutics.
